tidbits

I've been posing with lots of cows lately. This is the most recent one, taken by my friend Nelleke today as we toured the Fort Worth Stockyards. My internet name is Cowtown Stacy... and all these pics with cows are cracking me up. Gonna make a fun scrapbook layout!

Aidan's "suffering" from Strep Throat and Scarlet Fever, but I say "suffering" in quotes because the kid simply doesn't act sick. AT ALL.
This is either the mildest case of the two ailments in the history of childhood, or we're on antibiotics for nothin'. Seriously. He is FINE. After one dose of the medicine, he declared himself well. LOL! Good thing he has a Momma around to forcefeed those next 9 days' worth of pink medicine to him.

We're supposed to be camping tonight with the Thameses and Carmans, but we decided instead to keep our monthly date with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. I slept through the first half, but Darren enjoyed it very much. We'll join our friends at Mineral Wells tomorrow morning, bright and early in time for breakfast, unless tornados scatter them and their belongings overnight. Thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches out there tonight. HOLD ON TIGHT, FRIENDS! :)

I know that Dani is my kid and that I'm a whole lot biased, but DANG if that girl ain't the most talented kid I've ever known. She's a songwriting fool these days, pounding out really good lyrics and plucking out groovy tunes to go with 'em. Tonight, she wrote a puppet script for a local church puppet team (they've asked her to write it every year for the past 4 years), and when I read it tonight, I LAUGHED OUT LOUD, not once, not twice, but 4 or 5 times! I never knew that Moses and the Israelites crossing the Red Sea could be so funny. She's a gifted writer - way more so than I ever dreamed of being! Tomorrow, she's off to Solo & Ensemble Choir competition. Good luck, Dani!
UPDATE: She got a "1"!! Dani's goin' to State. WOO HOOO!!!!!

Darren's hot.
That's all.
When I read this a year or so from now, I just want to remind myself that tonight, while leaving the Symphony, I was staring at his butt, and mmmmmmm. He'll hate me for this, but hey. He knew what he was getting into when he married me. :D

LOVE your honesty Stace!! But poor Darren . . .do have to live with that honesty for all these years. I know that's one of the things he ADORES about you just as I do. But girl! You should act and talk LESS like me! You think like I do. . not about Darren but about my own DH! You crack me up!

And Dani!! Nothin' to say but "way to go". When I read her first writings, I KNEW she was gifted! Your kid or not -- she's got IT!

Love ya,
Denise

Stacy,
I've been following your blog for a while now and love your writing style and honesty. I don't know you (we live in Sugar Land, Tx), but I got your blog from Brooklyn and Beyond's. Anyways, the funniest thing happened this morning and I just have to share with you! When I read your Dear Cupid poem, I thought it was so cute that I changed it up a bit and copied and pasted to my own website and wondered if my husband would actually read it. I didn't even know what the gift from Macy's was that you wanted! When Valentine's Day rolled around, he gave me a precious figurine and a card, so I assumed he hadn't read it...didn't even mention it. Well, today when I woke up, my girls and he surprised me with 4 big gift-wrapped boxes for my birthday! Guess what they were! I got your gift! I couldn't stop laughing. At first, they didn't understand why I was laughing so hard, but after I explained that I had copied and pasted your poem and even I didn't know what the gift was, there was shere pandemonium in my house. Made for a huge laugh! Different colored pottery is not my thing, so we're going shopping today! Thought it would actually be hilarious if we shipped them to you instead, but then I wouldn't have a birthday present! By the way, they're still half price, so it's not too late! Angie

Thanks! I wish I could take you up on your offer, but I already returned them and went to James Avery instead. :( I have two scrapbooks that I'm about a year behind on and would have LOVED your help. Maybe some day I will ask for your help. I'm a full time teacher and mother and scrapbooking has gone by the way-side.

After everything settled down this morning, my husband went to your blog and realized you had a hyperlink to the pottery (I hadn't noticed before). Can you believe he went to Macy's not knowing what in the world he was looking for, but actually found it?? What a chivalrous thing to do, I have to say! I love that man! I felt so bad for him that he did so well for another woman! ha!

If you're interested in my blog (which is nothing compared to yours because I don't keep up with it much anymore), go to www.slhyde.com. Click on "my pictures" in the top right corner to take a "peek" into our lives here in Sugar Land.

Still laughing, Angie Hyde
